The volcanic origin of the island of Tenerife has created in its encounter with the sea beautiful black sand beaches and spectacular cliffs. Tenerife has almost 350 kilometres of coastline and more than 140 beautiful beaches, natural and artificial, bathed by the Atlantic Ocean.
There are quiet family beaches, very lively, full of people and fun, and hidden, wild, almost lonely beaches for the more adventurous.
Due to its volcanic origin many beaches are black sand but there are also beaches with light or blond sand, preferably in the south of the island.
All Tenerife’s beaches are noted for the purity of their waters, which are constantly renewed by the sea currents.
